An 80-year-old man is missing from his Dayton home, prompting a search by officials and his family.

Grover Botkin has dementia or Alzheimer's disease and likely became lost after going to the community dump on Sunday morning, according to his daughter-in-law, Vici Peters of Forest Grove, Ore.

He was last seen driving through Lakeside at about 10 a.m. Sunday, Peters said. Someone driving with Botkin on a previous trip to the dump said he turned the wrong direction when he tried to go home, she said.

Peters is afraid he may have gotten confused and begun driving to Jordan, where his family sometimes hunts.

Botkin is about 5 feet, 7 inches tall, with a gray beard and mustache. With him is his liver-and-white springer spaniel, Molly.

They are driving a brown-and-white 1990 Ford F-150 pickup with a white canopy.

Peters asks anyone who sees Botkin to call 911 or to call her at (503) 357-8772. People probably shouldn't approach Botkin directly, she said.
