Havre takes over as No. 1

Havre, coming off a spectacular showing at the Mining City Duals last weekend, has replaced Sidney as the No. 1 wrestling squad in Class A in balloting by coaches.

Harve won the duals title on Saturday by pinning a 46-29 loss on Class AA Billings Skyview.

Sidney this week drops a notch to No. 2.

Havre was ranked No. 8 a week ago.

Polson slips a slot to No. 3, while Whitefish moves up to fourth, Columbia Falls stays seventh and Libby drops four positions to 10th.

On the individual front, three wrestlers from Northwest Montana are ranked No. 1 in Class A at their respective weight classes.

Ryan Buck of Columbia Falls leads the way at 145.

Kevin Owen, 9-0 on the season, tops the 189-pound weight class. Owen has won eight matches by pin and once by tech fall.

And Libby's Travis Hjort leads the 215-pound division.

All total, Columbia Falls has nine wrestlers and Polson eight ranked in the top six of their weight classes.

The Pirates have a ranked wrestler at every weight from 98-130 while Columbia Falls has one from 119-145.

Whitefish has six ranked wrestlers, led by Cody Mikesell, 140, and Bradley Kuntz, 152. Both are second.
