A rash of car crashes spread across the Flathead Valley Tuesday with the arrival of snow and slick roads.

There were a handful of injuries, but most of the accidents were fender benders that required no ambulance service.

Three ambulances responded to a head-on collision between a pickup truck and a Subaru wagon on West Reserve on the hilltop west of U.S. 2. A man, woman and infant in the Subaru were transported to Kalispell Regional Medical Center, along with the driver of the truck.

Ambulances were also sent to a head-on crash on West Evergreen Drive near Village Greens, a collision on U.S. 93 near Majestic Valley Arena, and to a crash in "icebox canyon" on Montana 35 north of Bigfork.

An accident involving a plow truck and a semi-truck occurred on the steep grade east of Marion on U.S. 2. One person, who had apparently suffered broken ribs, was transported by ALERT helicopter to the Kalispell hospital.

The Montana High Patrol said Tuesday afternoon that patrol officers had responded to a total of roughly 50 accidents in the Flathead area during the day.

In addition to responding to accidents, the Kalispell Ambulance picked up a construction worker who fell 12 feet, landing on his head and shoulders, at a log home construction business on U.S. 93 south of Kalispell. The man was taken to the Kalispell hospital.
