Edwin W. "Bud" Jordan, 79, passed quietly at his winter home in Manzanillo, Mexico, on Dec. 18, 2004.

Born in Minneapolis, Minn., on March 7, 1925, Bud attended the Kenwood and Blake Schools and joined the U.S. Marine Crops at the age of 17. He fought in the Pacific during World War II and was part of the occupation of Japan after the war.

In 1946, Bud moved to Wilsall, Mont. He met and married the former Mary Ann Work and owned and managed the Shields River Ranch, a commercial Hereford cattle operation. Bud and Mary Ann ranched for 30 years, sold the ranch, built a home in Whitefish, bought one in Mexico and split their time between the two.

They loved to golf, ski, hunt and fish and entertain together.

Mary Ann preceded Bud in death in 1986.

Bud married Eleanor Newell of Austin, Texas, in 1987, and had 10 wonderful years with her until her death in 1997.

Survivors include daughters, Sara Fisher of Gypsum, Colo., Markie Burch of Santa Maria, Calif., and son, Wink Jordan of Whitefish.

A memorial service will be held in the summer of 2005 at Bud's home on Whitefish Lake.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice and cards may be sent to P.O. Box 1471, Whitefish, MT 59937.
