Jack Prier, 56, of Kalispell, died in a vehicle rollover Monday morning near Kalispell.

Jack Prier, 56, of Kalispell, died in a vehicle rollover Monday morning near Kalispell.

Flathead County Deputy Coroner Ernie Freebury said Prier was driving south on Whitefish Stage Road near McElroy & Wilken when his car plummeted down a 20-foot embankment.

His vehicle was found upside down.

Kalispell and Evergreen fire departments responded, along with highway patrol. Prier was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

Freebury said Prier died of an aortic tear and chest injuries as he was about to be flown to St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula.

"Alcohol was not a factor," Freebury said, and Prier wasn't driving much over the speed limit.

Roads were clear and dry, Freebury said.

"He just left the roadway," Freebury said.
