Lyle D. (Dalrymple) Lulow, 91
Lyle D. (Dalrymple) Lulow, 91, of Polson, passed away on Friday, Nov. 5, 2004, at St. Luke Extended Care Facility in Ronan.
Lyle was born Sept. 24, 1913, to George and Mable Dalrymple in Spade, Neb. She was the fourth of eight children in the Dalrymple family. She was raised in a sod house in the Sand Hills of Nebraska. She enjoyed school as a child and her life dream was to teach.
She fulfilled that dream after graduating from Rushville High School in 1930. She taught for several years at the Bourne School and the Brum School in the same rural area where she grown up near Rushville. She loved to teach students in rural schools because of the variety of ages and grades.
On Nov. 15, 1939, Lyle married Howard N. Lulow, a neighbor of the Dalrymple family and a schoolmate. Howard and Lyle farmed for a living. They sold their Nebraska farm in 1948 and moved with their daughter, Jacquin, and twin sons, James and Robert, to Montana to a farm in Valley View near Polson. They had two more sons, Harvey and George, after they moved to Montana.
Lyle worked very hard as a farm wife and mother of five children. She was a very dedicated wife and mother and was the pillar of the family. She was an excellent cook and everyone looked forward to having a meal at her home. Her home was always open and everyone was welcome. She was a gracious hostess and had a positive impact on all lives she touched.
Lyle was faithful to her Christian belief; she loved the Truth of God and valued the privilege of the Sunday morning meeting that was held in their home for many years.
Howard and Lyle enjoyed over 54 years together until his passing in April of 1994. Lyle then sold her place in Valley View and moved to Polson that fall. In June 2000, declining health required her to move to the St. Luke Extended Care Facility in Ronan where she resided until her death.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; parents; sisters, Louise and Claire; brother, Bruce; and two infant grandsons, Anthony Lulow, and Christopher Lulow.
She is survived by her children, Jacquin Simurdak of Lolo, James and Vicki of West Seattle, Robert and Sherry of Ronan, Harvey and Debra of Clancy, and George and Joan of Salem, Ore.; 11 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sister, Maude, of Walla Walla, Wash.; three brothers, Norman and Emily of Elk Grove, Calif., Robert and Ruth of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Winfred and Mary of Grayland, Wash.; and sister-in-law, Lilly Dalrymple, of Silverton, Ore. Many other special friends and relatives also survive her.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Grogan Funeral Home in Polson. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren. Following the services there will be a luncheon at Polson Senior Citizens Center.
