An Evergreen man died of what appeared to be accidental gunshot wounds Saturday night, the Flathead County Sheriff's Office reported.
Joseph Holzapfel, 44, was at his home in the 300 block of Edgewood Drive and was removing his hunting rifles from his car, according to the sheriff's office. His 30.06 rifle discharged, penetrating his abdomen and lower jaw.
The incident was reported shortly after 9:30 p.m. Deputies went to the scene and administered CPR until an ambulance from the Kalispell Fire Department arrived.
Holzapfel was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center, where he died a short time later.
