Police seek information in bomb threat

| November 29, 2004 1:00 AM

Kalispell police have a good idea who was behind a bomb threat at Flathead High School on Nov. 15 that required the school to be evacuated.

But police are asking for more information to help make arrests.

Just before noon on that Monday, someone called the principal's office to say a bomb was in the school and gave a specific time frame.

Students were immediately evacuated and herded to nearby Elrod School a block away. Many had no time to grab a coat or personal belongings, and shivered outside or went into the elementary school gym.

The threat required a thorough search of the school by police and school employees.

Police Chief Frank Garner said police have suspects and a motive. They hope anyone with information on the event will call them or Crimestoppers.

Whoever called in the threat may be charged with making a false report. Sanctions could be stiff, including a $1,000 fine and several months in jail, and restitution for expenses involved in searching the school.
