Amanda M. Skare, 91

Amanda M. Skare, 91, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center. She was born on Jan. 6, 1913, at Fairdale, N.D., the daughter of Andrew and Hilda (Anderson) Lofgren.

She was raised and educated in the Fairdale community, completing the eighth grade.

On March 23, 1929, she was united in marriage to Ingvald Skare at Grafton, N.D.

She was an accomplished seamstress, enjoyed painting and doing crafts. She loved to cook, especially Swedish and Norwegian dishes. She was a homemaker, but had previously worked a few years at the old Kalispell General Hospital and the Imperial Laundry. She attended Northridge Lutheran Church, was a charter and life member of Kalispell Eagles Auxiliary No. 234. She was also their pianist and drill captain for many years, winning many competitions.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Hilda Anderson Lofgren; her husband, Ingvald Skare, in 1985; two sisters, and one brother.

She is survived by two sons, Allen Skare and his wife Arlene, and Ronald Skare and his wife Joan, all of Kalispell; a daughter, Rosella Coffin of Richland, Wash.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, at Johnson Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be today from 12 to 6 p.m. at Johnson Mortuary. Burial will follow at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery. The family suggests any memorial contributions be sent to Kalispell Eagles Auxiliary No. 234, 37 First Street West, Kalispell, MT 59901.
