Gladys Margaret Sather Andersen, 84, passed away on Sunday Oct. 3, 2004, at her home in Kalispell.

Gladys Margaret Vick was born the fifth child of Carl T. Vick and Margaret Effie-Baldry Vick on Oct. 26, 1919, in LeFlesh, Saskatchewan. She spent her early childhood around Opheim, where her family homesteaded and she attended school in Tango.

While visiting her oldest sister in the '40s, she met Bennie R. Sather at a dance, They were later married, and had three of their four children, Daryl, Bonnie and Kathy, born in Montana; Dorene, their fourth, was born in Missouri.

Gladys had the gift of hospitality, and shared her home and love with her family, neighbors and friends. Her life was her family and church. She was known for her baking, and most often her cinnamon caramel rolls were sold in the parking lot before she even got them into the bake sale.

Bennie and Gladys shared 41 years together, enjoying their families and serving the Lord in their community. Bennie passed away on Oct. 4, 1984.

While attending her brother Melvin's 50th wedding anniversary party in Kalispell, Gladys reconnected with an old friend of her youth, Stanley Andersen, and on Feb. 14, 1990, they were married.

She learned how to yodel as a youngster, and it only seemed fitting that she moved to Yodelin Ridge Road in Kalispell with Stan where they shared 15 years together.

Stan's niece, Grace Hall, gave them great care and enabled Gladys to stay at home for the last few months of her life.

Gladys and her family appreciate her loving conscious care and feel blessed because of Grace. Gladys was blessed to live a life blessing others with her warmth and inclusive love. What she had she shared and we are all richer because of her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Bennie; one sister, and two brothers.

She is survived by her husband, Stanley, of Kalispell; children, Daryl and his wife, Rosalie Sather, of Havre, Bonnie and her husband, Jim Major, of Issaquah, Wash., Kat McKay of Helena, and Dee and her husband, Leroy Bishop, of Great Falls; brothers, Melvin Vick of Kalispell, Kenneth and his wife, Phyllis Vick, of Hamilton; sister, Dorothy Graham of Holdon, Mo.; grandchildren, Julie and her husband, Greg Borloug, Tony Sather, Loralie Sather, Vanessa Hanson, Christopher Major, Curt McKay, and Laci Bishop; great-grandchild, Reese Hanson; and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
