Flathead County Sheriff's Office took a report of a brazen bear on West Lakeshore Drive. The animal tore a door off a shed and then looked in the windows of a home. It was scared away, at least temporarily.

A more docile bear was reported in a tree on Lost Creek Drive.

Two young boys who caused concern by hitchhiking west of Kalispell were gone when officers arrived.

Deputies were asked to check out what appeared to be an infant's grave, adorned with flowers and stones, near Columbia Falls.

A woman reported that her husband choked her before he went to work. Another woman said a man assaulted her, stole her purse, and drove drunk. A father on East Evergreen Drive said his son and a neighbor broke in and stole money. A couple who was engaged in domestic warfare on South Cedar Drive separated for the night.

On Eckelberry Drive, a resident returned home to find intruders had entered through a bathroom window, taken money, and rummaged through drawers and closets. A satellite dish memory card was stolen in Martin City.

Deputies helped a woman on Springcreek Drive who had locked herself out of her home and essentially locked in her 2-year-old daughter who couldn't figure out how to open the door.

A rock slide was reported on U.S. 93 near Lakeside.

A man threatened to burn down another man's shop.

Kalispell police rescued a puppy from the duct work of a furnace on Ponderosa Street.

A man was taken into custody on the mental-health act at Four Season Motel. He was taken to the hospital, where he later refused to leave. Police gave him a ride back to the motel.

After an accident on First Avenue East, a man was charged with DUI and other violations.

A brother and sister on Fifth Avenue East had an episode of sibling hostility.

An intoxicated pedestrian caused concern on Conrad Drive.

At Motel 6, a man showed up and fell to the floor, asking for help. He said he'd been in a motorcycle accident, but there was no evidence of a crash. It turns out the accident was four days ago.

The person who was nearly hit by a car on the sidewalk near Tidyman's isn't convinced it was accidental.

There is a suspect in a six-figure theft reported at a business.

A panhandler was reported on North Meridian Road. A napper found under a hedge at the fairgrounds had to move on. Five transients drank beer on the Meridian Road bike path.

Whitefish police went to a disturbance in the Hide Out Casino parking lot Tuesday night. A 44-year-old man was arrested on felony and misdemeanor warrants and for partner assault. A 33-year-old woman was also charged with partner assault.

A man was arrested for DUI and a full house of other traffic charges on U.S. 93 south Wednesday. A woman was arrested for obstructing an officer and traffic offenses after an accident on U.S. 93 and Commerce. Five youths were charged with skateboarding outside the post office.
