Conlin's is scheduled to move in mid-November and will be open at its Main Street location until then.

Conlin's Furniture is leaving its downtown location of 10 years to take over the former Ernst building on Montana 35 in Evergreen.

Growth in the Flathead Valley is allowing the business to expand, store manager David Brimmer said.

The new location will have about triple the showroom space of the current store and more dedicated parking than downtown streets offered.

"We also saw it as an opportunity to take an empty building that wasn't being used," Brimmer said.

The 52,000-square-foot building has been empty since 1996, when the Ernst Home Centers chain went out of business.

Brimmer said the building is still in good shape and is being remodeled for its new resident.

Glacier Bank officials have said they're eyeing Conlin's downtown space as a place to expand bank offices, but no one from the bank was available for comment last week.
