Kathryn Lee "Kathy" Andersen, 60, was "united with her Lord" early Thursday, Oct. 14, 2004. She passed away at her home after a three-month battle with cancer. During this difficult time her courage and faith were a witness to her friends and family who were with her during this time.

Kathy was born July 24,1944, in Golden, Colo. At age 6, her parents, sister Patty, and Kathy moved to Enumclaw, Wash. When she was a sophomore in high school, they moved back to Golden because of her father's health.

After graduation from Golden High School, Kathy spent time in France and Washington, D.C. before returning to Florence, Ariz., where her parents had retired. After her father died in 1994, Kathy and her mother moved to Kalispell.

During her 10 years in Kalispell, Kathy gave many volunteer hours to the Humane Society of Northwest Montana. She had a great love of animals. She also became devoted to helping those at the Hope Pregnancy Center.

She worked at a variety of jobs in service areas, and particularly enjoyed using her talent for interior decorating in a consignment store.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Maxine and Ted Andersen; infant brother, Teddy Rae; a sister, Patty Kirkland, and her nephew, Lonnie Kirkland.

She is survived by her much loved niece, Kim Kirkland of Auburn, Wash.; aunt and uncle, Shirley and Bob Anderson of Kalispell; cousins and numerous second cousins. Her little dog, Tippy, was her most faithful companion.

A memorial service for Kathy will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18, at Buffalo Hills Chapel, 1890 U.S. 93 N., Kalispell. Officiating will be Kathy Eff and Bev Larsen. Cremains will be interred in Enumclaw, in the family plot.

Reginald J. "Reggie" Buck, 85, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at the Montana Veterans Home in Columbia Falls.

He was born Nov. 29, 1918, in Havre, to Wesley and Mary Jane (Gloer) Buck. Reggie's family lived in Helena, and then in Patrick Creek and also in the Kalispell area during his early years.

In October of 1941, he enlisted in the Army Air Force, where he was a side gunner on a B-17. He was honorably discharged on Dec. 16, 1945, in Fort Bliss, Texas.

On Dec. 15, 1949, he married his sweetheart, Lois Nadeane Daley, in Missoula. He was a working man and a loving family man.

All of Reggie's life he worked as a woods worker; he owned and operated two grocery stores and a small cafe and bar. In December of 1972, the family moved to Lakeside, and Reg worked for Bell Manufacturing. When his health began failing in February of 2002, he spent the time between his home in Lakeside and the Montana Veterans Home; it was there that he went to be with those who have gone on ahead.

Reggie was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Tom, Roy and Wesley Buck; and a daughter, Donna Lois Buck.

Survivors include his wife, Lois, of Lakeside; son, Steve Buck of Rollins; daughters, Sandra Penrod and husband, Stan, of Whitefish, Barbara Kirby and husband, Paul, of Helena; and son, David Buck of Lakeside; sisters, Jean Cobb, Dorothy Weaver and husband, Ira, and Beth Steele and husband, LeRoy; brothers, Clifford Buck and wife, Johnnie, Milton Buck and wife, Helen; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at Johnson Mortuary Chapel in Kalispell, with burial following at Glacier Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today, Oct. 15, at Johnson Mortuary Chapel.

Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Mortuary and Crematory.

Damion Alexander Cassidy, one month, 26 days old, passed away Oct. 13, 2004, at St. John's Lutheran Hospital from natural causes.

He was on Aug. 19, 2004, in Libby, to Garrett and Elise Mackey Cassidy. Although his life was short he brought a great deal of joy to his parents and his family.

Survivors include his parents, Garrett Cassidy and Elise Mackey of Troy; grandparents, Johnny and Gale Jellesed of Troy, Gerald and Linda Cassidy of Carson, Wash., and Kathy and Charlie Garret of Moyie Springs, Idaho; and many aunts uncles and cousins.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, at the Milnor Lake Cemetery in Troy. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today.

Arrangements are by the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home in Libby.

Mary Ellen (Sutherland) Hankinson, 83, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004, in Dillon.

Mary was born on Oct. 10, 1921, in Glendive, to Donald and Catherine Sutherland, who had come from Scotland and homesteaded in Wibaux. Mary moved with her family to Harrison, where she graduated from Harrison High School in 1939.

She married her high school sweetheart, Francis "Hank" Hankinson on Nov. 11, 1940, in Bozeman. When Fran was drafted into the Army, Mary moved with her family to Kalispell. Mary worked for a title company in Kalispell, while "Fran" served in the Army.

She will be remembered as a great cook and gardener and loved to can her vegetables from her garden. No one ever left her home hungry. Their home was full of love, and fun and always a gathering place for friends and relatives. She and Fran were the cooks at their son's hunting camp for 20 years, and were well known for their huckleberry pies. They have been greatly missed.

Mary was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kalispell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Anne and Peg; one brother, George; and her husband, Fran.

She is survived by sons, Lester of Los Angeles, and Monty and wife, Edwina, of Dillon; grandchildren, Brenda and husband, Dan Wigert, of Anaconda, and Cody and wife, Vanessa, of Dillon; great-grandchildren, Brock Wigert of Anaconda and Brayden Hankinson of Dillon; brothers, Dr. Kenneth Sutherland and his wife, Doris, of Spokane, and Don and his wife, Jan, of Springfield, Ore.; brother-in-law, Ernie "June" Hankinson and his wife, Alice, of Kalispell; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 18, at the First Presbyterian Church in Kalispell, with the Rev. Glenn Burfeind officiating. Urn burial will be at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery.

Debbie Marie Hedman, 45, passed away on Tuesday Oct. 12, 2004, at Brendan House in Kalispell.

Debbie was born on May 9, 1959, in Whitefish, to Donald and Helen Marie Hedman.

The location of her memorial service has been changed to the Christian Center Assembly of God Church in Kalispell at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16. A reception will follow at the church.

Anna Chupp Nadwornick, 98, of Wibaux, formerly of Glendive, died on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at the Wibaux County Nursing Home in Wibaux, and was freed from her long struggle with Alzheimer's.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, in the Chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Glendive with Pastor James Hageman officiating. Interment will be in the Dawson Memorial Cemetery in Glendive.

Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Glendive is entrusted with arrangements.

Anna was born on Sept. 19, 1906, in Stanton County, Neb., the daughter of Carl and Mary (Lueps) Dietz. The family later homesteaded in the Forsyth area where she attended school.

Anna was united in marriage to Ammon Chupp on Oct. 11, 1922, in Miles City. They lived in the Bloomfield community for a number of years until moving to Glendive, in 1936, where they raised five children. In 1954, they moved to Darby, where they had a small sheep ranch and later moved to Kalispell, where they lived until her husband's death in 1965. Anna then moved to Glendive to be near her elderly parents.

In 1968, she married Jake Nadwornick, who preceded her in death. In 1991, she moved to the Wibaux County Nursing Home.

Before the onset of Alzheimer's, Anna enjoyed dancing, crocheting, embroidery, gardening and her beloved cards, as well as serving as a member of the Women of the Moose and the Senior Citizen's Center.

Survivors include one son, Gene Chupp and his wife, Geanne, of Imnaha, Ore.; four daughters, Francine Guelff and her husband, Bob, of Glendive, Ella Mae Pisk and her husband, Peter, of Kalispell, Melva Mika and her husband, Carl, of Rainier, Wash., and Audrey Rhine of Roy, Wash.; Anna was one of 17 children and is survived by her brother, Alvin Dietz and his wife, Ida Mae, of Dickinson, N.D.; and two sisters, Doris Kenney of Cody, Wyo., and Freda Schulenberg of Billings; 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

William Lloyd "Bill" Ulrich, 82, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at Brendan House in Kalispell.

Bill was born on Feb. 24, 1922, in Flaxville, to Cyrus and Laura Cochrane Ulrich. He attended schools in the Flathead Valley.

Bill served in Europe with General Patton 3rd Army during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1945.

After his tour of service he bought his own logging truck and began working in the woods.

In 1958, he joined the Kalispell Police Department until he retired. He was the owner and operator of Bill's Towing until 1976.

Bill enjoyed traveling, hunting and fishing. When out- of-town guests came, Bill was always delighted to show them the Flathead Valley. Bill loved playing cards and being in the company of good friends.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, of Kalispell; children, DuWayne and his wife, Pat Ulrich, of Philipsburg, Vicki and her husband, Steve Gervais, of Spokane, and Kay and her husband, Dean Erickson, of Bonney Lake, Wash.; five grandsons, four stepgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Kalispell. The United Veterans of the Flathead Valley will do military honors in the church parking lot following the service.
