Kenneth Edward Caverly, 73, passed away Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004, at his residence at Bigfork.

He was born on May 1,1931, the son of Henry Louis and Rachel Elizabeth (Fox) Caverly at Somers. He attended grade school in Somers until the family moved to Bigfork where he attended schools until reaching the 10th grade.

He enjoyed the outdoors - hunting, fishing, hiking and camping. When he was young, he loved to dance. On Dec. 13, 1951, he entered the U.S. Marine Corps and was discharged on Dec. 4,1953, and then served until 1959 in the Marine Reserves.

He was united in marriage to Floretta L. Barnard on Sept. 22, 1957, at Kalispell. He worked for a time at the Ford dealership in Kalispell. He later went to work for the Forest Service where he worked as a log scaler and was also a fire fighter. While working for the Forest Service he was contracted by Plum Creek Logging to work as a log scaler. In August of 1960, he went to work for Plum Creek in Pablo and worked until his retirement in 1989.

While working in Pablo he was a volunteer fire fighter. He also enjoyed mechanic work. He enjoyed woodworking as he built tables, yard ornaments, bird baths and birdfeeders. He was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed sitting on the deck watching the wild turkeys and deer and many species of birds. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and taking rides to Apgar and getting a snack at Eddies Restaurant.

He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and also loved to tell stories and jokes. He was an avid reader and also loved spending time with his dog, Sheba.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Robert Caverly; brother, Jim Caverly; daughter Karon Lea Caverly; and son-in-law, Rod Standley.

He is survived by his wife, Floretta Caverly, of Bigfork; daughter, Katherine Standley, and son, Kenneth Caverly, both of Bigfork; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; and "Grandma" Clara Beardsley of Bigfork.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 22, at the Little Brown Church at Bigfork. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Thursday at Johnson Mortuary. Burial will follow at Lonepine Cemetery next to the church. Military honors will be conducted by the Veterans of the Flathead.

The family suggests that any memorial contributions be sent to the Bigfork QRU 810 Grand Ave., Bigfork, MT 59911.

Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Mortuary and Crematory.

Ida Marie Metcalf, 46, passed away on Oct. 17, 2004, after a two year battle with cancer.

She was born on Jan. 29, 1958, in Watsonville, Calif., the daughter of Francisco and Maria Orozco. She attended school in Salinas, Calif., and was a graduate of Hartnell College with an associate of science degree.

Ida had been employed for years in California local and state government as a senior police clerk, secretary, and administrative assistant. She moved to Kalispell with her husband of 12 years, Richard Metcalf, upon his retirement from King City, Calif.

Prior to her illness, Ida celebrated her faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ, by living all of her life to his glory. She was an exceptional athlete who participated in nine marathons. Her love for running and associated physical skills earned her many awards and medals. She loved all outdoor recreation and was an avid Kalispell hiker, kayaker and cross country skier.

Ida's hobbies included a love of plants, landscaping and working with youth at church.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Maria Orozco.

Ida is survived by her husband, Richard, of Kalispell; father, Francisco Orozco, of Salinas, Calif.; brothers, Frank Orozco of Salinas, and David Orozco of Chula Vista, Calif.; sisters, Anita Ayala, Lucy Venegas, Martha Ybarra, Corrine Orozco, Terry Heffington, and Janie Torrez, all of Salinas, and Sandra Orozco of El Monte, Calif.; and grandsons, Carter and Riley Jacobs, of Lemoore, Calif.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 400 W. California, St. in Kalispell. Pastor Dan Wurster will officiate.

Ida will always be remembered for her God-given athletic abilities, beautiful smile and thoughtfulness toward others.

Wayne Allen Riddle, 50, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

Wayne was born on Dec. 15, 1953, in Kalispell, to Ralph and Dorothy Riddle. Wayne attended school at Flathead High school where he played football and track. He was a member of the 1972 Flathead High School football team that won the state championship.

He served in the U.S. Army for four years.

Wayne married LaVonne Clark on Oct. 12, 1985. They have two children that he adored.

He loved fishing, camping, hunting, especially with his family and close friends, and doing carpentry work. If something needed fixed, he could do it. Wayne absolutely loved teaching his nieces and nephews how to fish, and beating them playing video games. His family was number one to him. He was a wonderful husband, father, son and grandson.

Wayne had worked at Immanuel Lutheran Home as a care giver for 14 years. He loved his work and his residents loved him. He had a heart of gold and the patience of Job.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph M. Riddle; and grandfather, Richard Wunderlich.

He is survived by his wife, LaVonne, a daughter, Kristina, and a son, Michael, all at the family home; a son, Merlin, and his family of Somers, and son, Vincent, of Seattle; mother, Dorothy Hartsoch, of Kalispell; sisters, Susan and Brad Rauthe of Kalispell, Janice and Jon Olson of Kalispell, and Linda and Stephen Brown of Denver; grandmother, Lena Weimar of Kalispell; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home with the Rev. Tim Bartholomew officiating.

James W. Wagner, 74, passed away on Monday, Oct. 18, 2004, at Brendan House in Kalispell.

He was born on April 21,1930, the son of Charles W. and Velma Parker Wagener at Kalispell. He was raised in Kalispell and attended elementary schools and graduated from Flathead County High School.

On July 9, 1955, he was united in marriage to Pat J. Pronovost at Libby. He worked for the Flathead County Road Department as a crusher operator for over 38 years until his retirement. He served in the U.S. Army and the Army National Guard. He was a longtime parishioner of Easthaven Baptist Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with his family. And he was also an avid reader.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife, Pat, of Kalispell; his son, Kenneth Wagner and his wife, Shawn, of Kalispell; his daughter, Darlene Fowler and her husband, Lynn, of Indianapolis, Ind.; a brother, Donald Wagner and his wife, Stella, of Kalispell; two stepsisters, Selma Skillman of Walla Walla, Wash., and Fadelma Zakro of Denver; his grandchildren, Joshua, Jessie and Justin Poling of Texas, Erica Thurgood and husband, Steve, of Clinton, Utah, and James M. Wagner of Kalispell; a great-granddaughter, MaKaylynn M. Thurgood of Clinton, Utah; also numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 21, at Easthaven Baptist Church in Kalispell. Visitation will be from noon until 6 p.m. today at Johnson Mortuary. Burial will follow at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Veterans of the Flathead.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be sent to the charity of the donor's choice.
