Thelma Herd Roog, 78

Thelma Herd Roog, 78, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, at her residence in Kalispell. She was born on Dec. 6, 1925, in Kevin, the daughter of B.C. and Evalina (Griffin) Herd.

She graduated from Oilmont High School and attended the University of Montana, and on June 2, 1945, she married John A. Roog of Shelton, Conn., where they raised three children.

She worked as a bookkeeper for Trico Mfg. in Shelton for 11 years and was organist as St. Michael's Church. In 1976, she and her husband returned to Montana where she worked for Big O Tire until April 2001 at which time she retired. During that time she was an organist/pianist for St. Matthew's Church and spent many happy hours playing for sing-alongs at the Immanuel Lutheran Home.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, John, of Stuart, Fla.; son, Michael of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Lt. Col. Paula Stephenson of Alexandria, Va., and Suzanne McClung of Crest, Calif.; two grandchildren, Stacey Roog Asnani and Christopher Roog; brother, Warren Herd of Great Falls; and three sisters, Catherine Rice of Butte, Allegra Ahlquist of Dragoon, Ariz., and Rosemary Fields of Sparks, Nev.; her nephew and care giver, Stephen Rice, of Kalispell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. today, Tuesday, Oct. 26, at at St. Matthew's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Glacier Memorial Gardens. The family suggests that any memorial contributions be sent to Home Options Hospice, 175 Commons Loop, Suite 100, Kalispell, MT.

Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Mortuary & Crematory.
