The Flathead County Planning Office is accepting applications for a number of planning board and neighborhood land-use advisory committee openings.

Letters of interest, including name, address, daytime phone number and qualifications, should be mailed to Mary Sevier at the planning office, 1035 First Ave. W., Kalispell, 59901. The deadline is Nov. 12.

The specific openings include:

. Board of Adjustment - Two openings with two-year terms from Jan. 1, 2005, through Dec. 31, 2006. Applicants must reside in Flathead County but outside the zoning jurisdictions of Kalispell, Whitefish or Columbia Falls.

This board makes final decisions on conditional use permit and zoning variance requests.

. Flathead County Planning Board - Four openings with two-year terms from Jan. 1, 2005, through Dec. 31, 2006. Applicants must reside in Flathead County, but outside the planning jurisdictions of Kalispell, Whitefish or Columbia Falls.

This board provides recommendations to the county commissioners on subdivision plats, zoning changes, zoning text amendments and growth policy amendments. It's also responsible for updating the Flathead County Growth Policy.

. Columbia Falls City-County Planning Board - Two openings with two-year terms from Jan. 1, 2005, through Dec. 31, 2006. Applicants must reside within the county portion of the board's planning jurisdiction.

This board provides recommendations to the county commissioners and Columbia Falls City Council regarding subdivision plats, zoning changes, zoning text amendments and growth policy amendments. It's also responsible for updating the Columbia Falls Growth Policy.

. Whitefish City-County Planning Board - Two openings with two-year terms from Jan. 1, 2005, through Dec. 31, 2006, plus one member-at-large opening with a one-year term. Applicants for the two-year positions must reside within the county portion of the board's planning jurisdiction; the member-at-large can live anywhere within the planning jurisdiction.

This board provides recommendations to the county commissioners and Whitefish City Council regarding subdivision plats, zoning changes, zoning text amendments and growth policy amendments. It's also responsible for updating the Whitefish Growth Policy.

. Whitefish Lake and Lakeshore Protection Committee - One opening with a three-year term from Jan. 1, 2005, through Dec. 31, 2007. The applicant must be a lakefront property owner.

This committee provides recommendations regarding lakeshore permits on Whitefish Lake and Lost Coon Lake.

. Various neighborhood land-use advisory committees - These committees provide recommendations regarding subdivision and zoning activities within their jurisdictional areas.

The committees, the number of openings and the terms include: Ashley Lake, three openings, four-year terms; Bigfork, three openings with three-year terms and one opening with a term running through Dec. 31, 2005; La Brant-Lindsey Lane, three openings, four-year terms; Little Bitterroot Lake, three openings, three-year terms; Middle Canyon, one opening, three-year term; North Fork, one opening, two-year term; Upper Canyon, one opening with a one-year term and one opening with a three-year term; West Valley, two openings, three-year terms.
