Harold Stevens, 83, of Hungry Horse, passed away Aug. 10, 2004, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center. Cremation has taken place.

He was born Sept. 27, 1920, in Cleveland, Ohio. He joined the National Guard in 1938. He was inducted into the regular Army in 1941, immediately going to the South Pacific after war broke out, and engaging in battles in Luzon, Munda, Bouganville and others. He received the combat Infantryman's badge, Good Conduct medal, Bronze Star and various other ribbons. He was honorably discharged in 1945.

His parents relocated to Flint, Mich., and Harold joined them, working in their restaurant. He married Eleanor Albrecht, and they had two children.

His parents and sister moved to Montana, buying the Hungry Horse Motel. Harold joined them in 1955 and went to work at Anaconda Aluminum. He moved to Missoula, in 1957, engaging in the gaming industry until his retirement in 1990, when he moved back to Hungry Horse.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor; father, Theodore; mother, Florence; sister, Elinor Jaycox; and grandson, Donald Stevens.

He is survived by daughter, Pam, and husband, Larry Zue, and their son, Scott Allen; son, Rodney Stevens, and his children, Jennifer, Rodney Jr., and Rhonda; brother, Milton; sister, Roz, and husband, Arvid Kristoffersen; numerous nieces and nephews; and beloved friend, Caroline Williams.

Memorial services with military honors will be 2 p.m.,

Saturday, Sept. 25, at the Baptist Church in Hungry Horse, formerly Club Rocco, on U.S. 2 East across from the turn-off to the Hungry Horse Dam.
