Myrtle May Vick, 91,

Myrtle May Vick, 91, passed away on Monday Aug. 9, 2004, at Brendan House in Kalispell.

She was born June 4, 1913, in Loma, N.D., to Webster P. and Lucina (Ryan) Rogers. The family moved to Opheim where they homesteaded when Myrtle was about 2. She was the oldest girl of 10 children. Myrtle attended elementary school in that area, and high school in Lone Jack, Mo., before moving back to Montana.

Myrtle married Melvin C. Vick on Aug. 31, 1934, in Fairview. They homesteaded in Opheim, and in 1940, moved to a farm in Knob Noster, Mo. Over the years she was an excellent cook, and worked in shoe and sewing factories in Missouri. She also drove truck during the harvest run from Missouri to Montana.

She made a home with her family in Martin City, from 1954 to

1956, then to Opheim for a year where they managed the Farmers Union Store, and then back to Missouri. Myrtle and Melvin bought a farm in Centerview, Mo., in 1960, and lived there until they sold in 1982. She was very active in the community and in her church.

They moved to Kalispell, in 1982, and she was an active senior citizen volunteer. They traveled as snowbirds for several years along with other family members and friends, enjoying life.

Myrtle loved cooking, baking, entertaining, crocheting, knitting,

sewing, making quilts, canning, gardening, kids and caring for

others.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Patricia "Patsy" Vick; and two brothers, Earl and Marion Rogers.

She is survived by her husband of almost 70 years, Melvin, of Kalispell; one daughter, Maren Lucina and husband, Larry J. Nestegard, of Kalispell; brother, Neal Rogers, of Opheim; sister, Laura Belcher, of Independence, Mo.; sister, Phyllis, and husband, Kenneth Vick, of Hamilton; sister, Doris Gard, of Lee's Summit, Mo.; sister, Shirley Foreman of Edwards, Mo.; brother, Vern, and wife, Barbara Rogers, of Centerview, Mo.; and sister, Ada Mae, and husband, Glenn McDole, of Independence, Mo.; grandchildren, Victor G. and wife, Alette Nelson, Jeffrey A. Nelson, M. Scott Nelson, David A. and wife, Genny Graham, and Allison (Nestegard) and husband, Todd Hawes, all of Kalispell; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at noon, Saturday, Oct. 2, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Whitefish Stage Road in Kalispell.
