The Flathead County Planning Board will hold public hearings tonight on a variety of applications, including two more proposals in Bigfork.

Over the last 16 months, projects located in and around Bigfork have accounted for almost 20 percent of the board's agenda items.

Tonight's public hearings include:

. A major land-use request by Glacier Raft Co. to build four guest cabins, a bed-and-breakfast and a pavilion within the Canyon zoning district, on property located at 11957 U.S. 2 East near West Glacier.

. The preliminary plat for Whitefish River Ranch, a 16-lot single-family subdivision on 21 acres along Trumble Creek Road south of Birch Grove Road.

. A zone change from RC-1 to R-2 limited residential for 13 acres near the intersection of Holt Drive and Hanging Rock Drive, near Bigfork.

. The preliminary plat and planned unit development proposal for North Shore Vista, a 10-unit townhouse project on five acres along Chapman Hill Road just south of Holt Drive.

. A subdivision text amendment that would add waivers of protest as a condition of approval for all new subdivisions in Flathead County's planning jurisdiction.

The waivers would prevent people who buy lots in the subdivisions from protesting the creation of a special improvement district in their neighborhood, as long as the districts were created for purposes related to roads, water systems and sewer systems.

Several other items previously scheduled for tonight's meeting have been pulled, including a proposed zoning text amendment related to gravel pits.

That item is now moot, given that the Legislature recently approved a bill that clarifies the county's ability to regulate gravel mines.

Tonight's meeting takes place in the second-floor conference room of the Earl Bennett Building in Kalispell beginning at 6 p.m.
