Whitefish police

| April 22, 2005 1:00 AM

Gangs of bears are traveling around the City Beach area, prompting calls to Whitefish police from residents and leading to citations for some residents. Two black bears were seen at City Beach, four were spotted on Pine Lane, and other reports, including one of a sow with cubs, came from Waverly Place, Dakota Avenue, and other locations. Police are enforcing a city ordinance that requires residents to keep garbage locked up except during trash pick-up. Some residents have received two warnings; a batch of citations is due to follow.

A family dispute was reported on Colorado Avenue. On U.S. 93 South, a man will seek a protective order after reporting that his ex-wife is harassing him.

A disturbance at Grouse Mountain Lodge was quieted.

A woman was arrested on a warrant for assault.

Someone pulled the fire alarm at the library Thursday afternoon.
