George Harold Holt

George Harold Holt passed away April 21, 2005, at the Heritage Place in Kalispell.

He was born April 27, 1915, to Harold and Matilda 'd2Peg'd3 (Stemmerman) Holt in lona, Minn. He graduated from high school in 1933, in Sioux Falls, S.D.

George married Doris Ann Nelson, Sept. 4, 1938, in Sioux Falls. They enjoyed 66 years together.

He was a member of Central Bible Church in Kalispell.

George was trained and served at the U.S. Naval Hospital at Farragut, Idaho, from 1943 to 1945. He moved his wife, Doris, and son, Gregory, to Kalispell where they set up a dental laboratory.

In 1953 he attended the Bible Institute of Los Angeles, then came back to Montana and was a lay minister in Poplar during 1956-1957. From there the family went to language school in San Jose, Costa Rica and on to Quito, Ecuador, where he and Doris served as missionaries. He got to work with Dayuma, one of the Aucas.

Due to his wife'd5s health they returned to the states and opened several dental laboratories throughout the southwest, settling in Hamilton, and finally in Kalispell where he pursued his first love of sculpturing.

He was preceded in death by both parents; a brother, Everett; and recently his wife, Doris.

Survivors include his son, Greg and wife, Joan E of Billings; his grandchildren, Eric and wife, Kathy, of Peoria, Ariz., Sven and wife, Angelique, of Glendale, Ariz., and Sonja and husband, Chris Shady, of Helena; a nephew and niece, both of Worthington Minn.; two sisters-in-law; and many dearly loved friends.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 30, at the Central Bible Church in Kalispell.
