WHS girls top Maidens

WHITEFISH - The Whitefish girls tennis team tuned up for this weekend's Missoula Invitational with a 6-1 win over Ronan on Thursday.

Brielle Menegazzi, Molly Lauterback and Sabrya Martin all won their singles matches in straight sets. No. 1 singles player Danni Paulson won by forfeit.

"I thought the highlight of the day was the play of the doubles team of Allie (Connelly) and Kelsi (Peace)," Bulldogs coach Patrick Dryden said. "They just hit a lot of winners and cut down on their mistakes. They're starting to put it together."

Whitefish (8-0 overall, 3-0 league) heads to Missoula on Saturday to face some stiff Class AA competition.

"The Missoula Invitational is going to be a big weekend for us to see how we perform stepping up in competition," Dryden said. "Danni is really looking forward to it, seeing some of that AA competition."

C-Falls splits with Bigfork

BIGFORK - Three victories in singles play and a key triumph at No. 3 doubles carried the Columbia Falls girls to a 4-3 Class A dual tennis win Thursday over Bigfork.

Bigfork won at No. 1 singles, but the Wildkats won the next three with Emily Emmert, Sarah Marcille and Lisa Carter.

Chelsea Smith and Rosemary Dalimata then posted a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles for the Wildkat win.

"A match between two pretty even teams," said Columbia Falls coach Jerry Smalley.

"When it's that closely contested, it's a good outing for both teams."

On the boys side of the court, a victory by Columbia Falls' Jeremy Loween at No. 4 singles prevented a Bigfork sweep. The Vikes won that dual 6-1.
