Swap meet ahead at Lakeside School

The fifth annual West Shore Spring Thaw Swap-O-Rama opens its doors at 8 a.m. today at Lakeside School.

New and used items from the garage, attic and workshop will be up for sale, along with crafts and other handmade treasures from area vendors.

A full concession will be available.

The Swap-O-Rama is open until 1 p.m. and is sponsored by the Somers/Lakeside PTA.

Rummage sale to benefit youth shelter

Epworth United Methodist Church has its annual spring rummage sale from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. today at the church at 329 Second Ave. E. (across from the Hockaday Museum of Art).

Clothing, household goods, furniture, toys, baked goods, and more will be for sale.

Most items are priced at three for a dollar, and from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., you can fill a bag for a buck.

The proceeds from this sale will go to the Flathead Youth Shelter.

Big wheels roll today at Edgerton School

The Special Friends Advocacy Program sponsors its 19th annual Big Wheels Basketball tournament from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at Edgerton School in Kalispell. Raffle tickets will be sold for a hand-carved picnic table.

Proceeds benefit the Special Friends Advocacy Program that serves local individuals with disabilities. The public is welcome to attend.

'Clothes Closet' will boost scholarships

Montana Woman Magazine is sponsoring a "Clothes Closet" for women in need of professional work clothes today from 1 to 5 p.m. at Valley Fitness for Women next to Joann's Fabric in Evergreen.

All women are encouraged to come and shop. Each visitor will receive a coupon good for one free work out at Valley Fitness. Refreshments will be served and numerous prize drawings will be held during the sale.

All proceeds will go toward the Montana Woman of the Year Scholarship.

Learning center holds potluck, festival

Parents of young children are invited to a potluck and outdoor festival to learn more about Glacier Lifelong Learning Center, a Waldorf Initiative, today from 10 a.m. to noon at the home of instructor Catherine Flynn.

Bring a healthy potluck dish and lawn chair. The outdoor event will feature, May-pole dancing, crafts, a children's parade through the forest and a campfire.

A donation of $5 to $10 is requested to help cover craft supplies for this nonalcoholic family event.

Help out in planting community garden

The Kalispell Community Garden has its kickoff today at the garden plot on Hawthorne Avenue. Work begins at 9 a.m. with Montana Conservation Corps members and other volunteers helping gardeners get a start on the growing season.

Albertsons will provide supplies for a barbecue and Midway Rental and Cenex will provide rototillers for those participating.
