Sheriff's Office names Kmart robbery suspect

A man sought in connection with Friday's armed robbery at the Kmart pharmacy is Chad W. Lewis, 32, of Kalispell.

Bruce Parish, detective commander of the Flathead County Sheriff's Office, said a nationwide alert has been issued for Lewis.

He is suspected of demanding prescription pain killers from the pharmacy. He reportedly carried a revolver.

Parish was in touch with Lewis on Monday by cell phone, trying to persuade him to turn himself in.

Their last contact was late Monday afternoon, when Lewis said he was near Lewistown.

When Lewis failed to present himself to law enforcement there, Parish released Lewis' name and photo to the public.

Lewis developed an addiction to pain killers after an injury, Parish said.

He feared Tuesday that Lewis might have harmed himself.
