The Daily Inter Lake

Flathead Valley Community College offers an opportunity to kayak and explore the ecosystem of Flathead Lake's Wild Horse Island on Aug. 12.

A wildlife biologist will lead the one-day kayaking adventure to the island's unique ecosystem. Island habitants include bighorn sheep, mule deer, bald eagles, coyotes and black bears.

A morning lesson covering the basics of sea kayak techniques and safety precautions precedes the paddle to the island. Beginners as well as experienced sea kayakers will enjoy the class.

The course cost of $164 includes lunch and equipment. For more information or to register, call the continuing education center at 756-3832.
