Henry W. 'Bill' Miller, 74

Henry W. "Bill" Miller died at the age of 74 at the Kalispell Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.

He was born to Gustav and Sara (Vanderhoof) Miller in Sidney, on Jan. 18, 1931. He served in the Navy for 20 years from 1948 to 1968 including the Korean and Vietnam wars.

He moved back to Kalispell, where he worked for Rocky Mountain Lumber Co., who later changed its name to Louisiana Pacific. He worked there until they shut down. He then worked odd jobs until going to work for Yellowstone Park where he then retired after nine years.

He was very active in the community, including being a member of Loyal Order of Moose, Legion of Moose, VFW, Cooties, Eagles, and American Legion.

One of his favorite pastimes was socializing with family and friends. He also enjoyed camping and fishing, playing cards (even if it meant by himself), old-time Western movies, and getting hugs.

He was preceded in death by both his parents, and two brothers, Virgil and Melvin.

He is survived by his wife, Annette; daughter, Theresa; son, James; granddaughter, Amanda; six brothers, Alvin and Vernon "Bud" of Fairview, Fredrick of Columbia Falls, Roland of Baker, Robert Ernster of Savage, and Larry Ernster of Billings; two sisters, Ruby Yadon and Rose Yadon of Sidney; and many nephews and nieces.

He will be cremated and a memorial service and military salute will be held at the Woodland Cemetery in Columbia Falls on Saturday, August 6, 2005 at 2 p.m. There will be gathering for friends and family to follow at the Moose Lodge in Kalispell.

There will also be a memorial service and burial in Fairview. The date and time of this service will be determined at a later date.
