Marion E. Garrow, 77
Marion E. Garrow, 77, of Saint Mary, died of unknown natural causes Thursday, July 28, 2005.
There will be a memorial service 1 p.m. on Sept. 3, at the Johnson's Campground Pavilion in St. Mary. Cremation has taken place.
Survivors include her sons, Steve of Kalispell, Shawn and Carol of Saint Mary; daughter, Susan of Coram; and grandchildren, Casey and Lindsay; great-grandchildren, Mikell and Robert; ex-husband, Bob; a sister, Dolly; a brother, Robert of Wisconsin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frances Olson and Ethel Boyd; sister, Frances Harris; and brother, Melvin Olson.
Marion was born July 15, 1928, in Janesville, Wis., to Frances and Ethel Olson where she was raised and graduated from Janesville High School. She worked a year at a Chevrolet Plant in Janesville.
On her first vacation she visited her sister Frances at a ranch north of Browning after World War II. She fell in love with Montana and moved to Browning in 1946. There she met and married Robert Garrow; they later divorced.
Marion worked for the Sherburne Mercantile Store and Glacier County Welfare Department before her 20 years as the Clerk of the Browning School Board until her retirement in the late '70s; she then moved out to Saint Mary were she was employed by Lester and Ruth Johnson. She managed the camp store during the summer at Johnson's of Saint Mary. She spent her winters in Rincon de Guayabitos, Mexico, where she truly enjoyed her time "away from the snow." She loved the beach, whale watching and her extended Mexican families and friends.
"Fondly known as "Tootsie" by her kids, we will have forever the great memories of our time together with "Tootsie" especially playing golf, out on the Pacific Ocean watching the whales and the annual "Booze Cruise" on Upper Saint Mary Lake. She will be truly missed by all."
Marion was a breast cancer survivor; memorials are suggested to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Whitted Funeral Home of Cut Bank is in charge of arrangements.
