Opal Marie Palmer, 85, passed away at her Spokane home on Friday, July 29, 2005.

Opal was born to Erik and Alma Lee Mohn on Oct. 22, 1919 in Grafton, N.D. The family moved to Kalispell and Opal grew up in the West Valley area. She attended Sparks School and Flathead County High.

In 1941, Opal married Julian Holden of Kalispell.

They moved to Spokane soon after. Opal was employed with the Shrine Scottish Rites office for nearly 30 years.

Julian passed away in 1966.

Opal then married Harold Alvin Palmer on June 21, 1975. Harold and Opal enjoyed Masonic and Eastern Star activities. After retiring, they traveled extensively. Harold passed away in 1982.

Opal enjoyed gardening and entertaining visitors at her home until her passing.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother; and two brothers, Emery and LeVern "Bob" Mohn.

Opal is survived by her niece, Jean Karlin of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; and three nephews, Russell Mohn of Scottsdale, Ariz., Ronald Mohn of Columbia Falls, and James Mohn of Whitefish.

Opal is also survived by scores of friends. The love and support of many beloved neighbors and friends allowed Opal to live in her home until she passed.

Perhaps most important to her were the many children whom Opal showered with her love and attention.

Graveside services for Opal will be held 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, at the C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Tim Bartholomew officiating.

A reception will follow at the Stillwater Lutheran Church.

Buffalo Hill Funeral Home is caring for the family.
