Community college sets orientation for fall classes

| August 5, 2005 1:00 AM

Flathead Valley Community College gears up for the fall semester with new-student orientations today and Aug. 17.

Sessions cover financial aid, student support services and student organizations. Students also learn about registering, advisers, tuition and refunds.

Admissions representative Marca Vogele said orientation provides an opportunity for students to register early for classes.

"This works to their benefit since our classes fill up fast on a first-come, first-served basis," she said.

The college offers morning and afternoon orientation sessions on both days. However, students must register to attend.

People who complete applications for admission receive a new student orientation registration packet by mail.

Applicants need proof of high school or GED completion, immunization records, college transcripts if applicable and a $15 application fee.

New students who have not completed college-level math and English courses must take placement tests.

Each student must complete an application before scheduling a testing time.

For more information or to register, contact Vogele at 756-3847 or by e-mail at mvogele@fvcc.edu.
