| August 23, 2005 1:00 AM

Kalispell police were called Sunday to College Avenue, where a couple of men were seen trying to get into a building. One had a ladder and climbed in a window and then went to the door to let in his companion. Officers found that the men are carpenters who had left their tools in the business and came back to get them for another job.

Hate and discontent was the order of the day. A man and woman were arrested for partner assault on Second Avenue East. A woman reported Sunday that she was attacked and thrown to the ground by another woman at Scotty's Bar. There was some unfriendly spitting at the fairgrounds. At Michael's West was a report of people trying to fight; they were sent on their way. An air gun was confiscated from a person target-practicing on people at Woodland Park.

At Lawrence Park, a man called for help at 2:30 a.m. Monday when the driver of a truck rammed his vehicle twice. The truck driver was arrested and a passenger was charged with underage alcohol possession. The incident reportedly stemmed from an assault that happened earlier; more charges are pending.

At the Vacationer Motel, a man barred himself inside a room after an effort to evict him.

An underage drinker was arrested outside of Syke's.

A resident on Third Avenue West found a 2- or 3-year-old girl and called police. Her father called shortly afterward, and they were reunited.

The top rail of a fence was removed on Eighth Avenue West North.

A white 1995 Ford Escort was reported stolen at the mall.

Two people complained about the "horribly loud" music accompanying a football practice at Legends Field.
