KR Profitibility wins Charlie Russell Futurity

KR Profitibility with David Brown aboard won the Charlie Russell Futurity on Saturday by 2 1/2 lengths and came within a 10th of a second of the track record at the Flathead County Fairgrounds.

KR Profitibility, with two-to-one odds, was timed in 17.67 seconds for the 350-yard race for 2-year-old quarter horses. The victory was worth $9,30.10.

The fastest qualifier, Andy's My Dash, ridden by Nikeela Black, finished second and Dazzlin Dory with Tim Neal up placed third.

The futurity was the ninth race of the day.

Black had another standout day, winning four straight races to bring her fair horse racing total to 13 after four race days. She was aboard Plumb Salty in the second race, Wasperino in the third, One Foxy Knight in the fourth and Brooksbobnbucky in the fifth.

The betting handle was a disappointing $25,820. Racing secretary Shorty Martin says the futurity race day normally brings in $40,000-$45,000.

The final day of racing is today, featuring the Charlie Russell Derby. Post time is 1 p.m. and 12 races are scheduled.
