John Wesley 'Jack' Rambo, 85

John Wesley "Jack" Rambo was born March 7, 1920, in Wilford, N.D., to Rueben and Sally Rambo. He "entered into eternal rest" Aug. 29, 2005, at his home in Kalispell. Jack grew up on the Hi-line area near Gilford and Hingman.

Jack was a veteran and was medically discharged in 1941.

He married Doris Jean Christofferson on Nov. 2, 1942, in Sand Point, Idaho.

Jack worked at the Big West Oil Refinery in Kevin for 28 years. Had a son, Allen S. Rambo, and daughter, Wanda M. Rambo. He later worked for the Cascade Custodial Supply, from which he retired in 1982 to Kingman, Ariz., and summered in Coram.

He returned to the Flathead Valley in 2000, where he lived the remainder of his life.

Jack is survived by his wife, Doris; two sisters, Faye Swanson of Great Falls, and Gwenn Lee of Kalispell; son, Allen S. Rambo, of Spokane; and daughter, Wanda Rambo Zell, of Shelby; Carol of Laurel, Linda of Glasgow, John of Great Falls, Diane of Billings, and James Lewis of Great Falls. Grandchildren include Jay Rambo, Jill (Rambo) Lindquist, Shannan (Zell) Bogner, John Zell and 11 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Earl and Pat, and sisters Bessie and Ad.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, at the Buffalo Hills Funeral Home in Kalispell.
