Lydia Batt MacDonald, 93

Our beautiful grandma and aunt "Susie" Lydia MacDonald passed away Aug. 27, 2005, due to a car accident.

She was born Oct. 31, 1911, in Havelock, Neb., to Mary Elizabeth and Christian Batt.

She married Howard L. MacDonald on Oct. 31, 1936, and spent years between Missoula, Flathead Lake and Las Vegas, before moving to Hamilton in July 2000.

"Susie" lived an exemplary life. She was the oldest of seven children. During the Depression, when her father died, she supported the family by working the graveyard shift at the telephone company while finishing high school. She was generous and hardworking throughout her life and a model of honesty and positive thinking.

Howard preceded her in death, as did sisters, Catherine Batt and Mary Noland; brothers, Harold Batt, Herbert Batt, Elmer Batt and John Batt; son, Don MacDonald, also preceded her in death.

Surviving include her daughter, June Case, of Hamilton; granddaughter, Sandra Hildebrant, of Hamilton; grandsons, Dave Case of Stevensville, and Richard Case of Great Falls; granddaughters, Diane Frank of Selah, Wash., Suzanne Clements of Yakima, Wash., and Donne Hawkins of Spanaway, Wash.; grandsons, Larry MacDonald of Yakima, Robert MacDonald of Seattle, Don MacDonald of Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and a sister-in-law.

At her request, there will be no services. She will be buried next to her husband, Howard, at the Lake View Cemetery in Polson. Arrangements are under the care ofthe Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton.
