Flathead High School speech team stays unbeaten

The Flathead High speech and debate team remained undefeated by winning the Dusty Roads Invitational in Helena this past weekend.

The two-day tournament was held at Helena High and Carroll College.

Helena High hosted the speech events, in which Flathead outdistanced Bozeman by 44 points.

Carroll College hosted the debate events, in which Flathead finished third behind Bozeman and Billings Senior.

Although the two tournament sites ran independently of each other, when the scores are combined as at all other tournaments throughout the season, Flathead easily outdistanced the competition.

It was a busy weekend for Flathead speech and debate.

More than 100 Flathead students competed on Saturday. As the varsity squad competed in Helena, the junior varsity squad competed in Corvallis and the freshman squad was in Whitefish.

The junior varsity and freshman seasons now have ended. Flathead will compete again on Dec.16 and 17 at the Hawk Invitational in Bozeman.
