Brady, Streit lead FHS in swimming

HAVRE - Brian Brady won two events and Taylor Streit won one to help the Flathead High School boys swim team take top honors at the Havre Invitational on Saturday.

Brady posted top times in the 200 freestyle (2:01.13) and 100 freestyle (53.28) while Streit won the 100 breaststroke (1:10.95).

The Braves other firsts came in the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays. On the medley relay were Dan Browne, Streit, Bryce Fischer and Brady. Swimming on the freestyle relay were Andrew Unterreiner, Fischer, Streit and Brady

The Flathead boys totaled 93 points to edge CMR, 90, for the title. Havre was third, 77 points.

Fischer placed second in the 200 IM, Unterreiner was the runner-up in the 100 butterfly and Browne posted the second best time in the 100 backstroke.

In the girls competition, Great Falls High finished first, 174 points, with Havre second, 73, and Flathead third, 52.

The Bravettes finished with one first - the 400 freestyle relay. Swimming in that foursome were Ashley Lund, Sammie Hammett, Allison Grubb and Liz Myers.

Hammett finished second in the 100 butterfly and Myers was second in the 200 IM.

"Great efforts," said FHS coach Paul Stelter.

"We swam reasonably fast for this portion of the season."

Stelter said the team had some "break out swims," by Kirstin Koslosky, Grubb, Unterreiner, Aaron Rold and Lund.

"Bryce Fischer had personal best swims in two meets in a row," added Stelter.

"The JV girls team swam very competitively," he said.

"The team is starting to believe in themselves and are swimming with more clear intention."
