Evergreen sewage plant clears zoning hurdle

The Flathead County commissioners approved a zoning text amendment related to sewage treatment plants Wednesday.

The vote was 2-1, with Commissioner Joe Brenneman in opposition. There was no discussion.

The amendment, which makes sewage plants a conditional use in the P-1 zoning district, facilitates Evergreen's efforts to build a treatment facility on 20 acres of county property along FFA Drive.

A feasibility study still needs to be done to determine whether this is an appropriate location for the plant. Multiple public hearings also would be held before any construction begins.
