Donations passed the halfway point last week for United Way's local fund-raising campaign.

The campaign has raised $533,120 so far. That's 63 percent of the goal of topping the $843,976 raised last year.

The fund-raising effort continues until Dec. 31.

"Doing What Matters" is the theme of this year's campaign, which benefits the United Way and 27 member agencies in Flathead County.

Contributions help United Way provide a broad spectrum of public services.

Last year member agencies provided more than 67,000 "unduplicated acts of assistance to those in need," according to the United Way.

United Way community help ranged from 775 people receiving emergency medical care to 23,804 meals provided through donated food.

Donations may be made with cash, payroll deductions, charging to a credit card, billing on a periodic basis or through an automatic bank transfer.

Donors also may designate which member agencies or non-affiliated partner agencies they want to receive their gift.

Donations may be mailed to P.O. Box 7217, Kalispell, MT 59904.
