was dispatched by Flathead County Sheriff's Office to rescue a dog in despair Monday afternoon on Ridgerun Drive. The Yorkshire terrier was getting a bath when one of the pads on its feet slipped beneath the metal drain, and the animal couldn't free it without cutting the sensitive pad. Fearless and resourceful paramedics and firefighters arrived and employed dish soap, oil, and wooden sticks to free the dog without so much as a bite. "We like dogs. It was a great ending" said firefighter/paramedic Matt Kinsey.

Too many indignities have been visited upon a snowman on Harbin Hill Road, according to a complaint. It all began when someone threw an egg at a house there. Two weeks ago, someone tipped over the snowman. On Thursday night, it was tipped again and the helpless, hapless snowman was drenched in fruit punch. There is a suspect in the fruit punching of Frosty.

A burglary was reported on LaBrant Road. A nail gun stolen near Whitefish was found at a Kalispell pawn shop.

There were numerous reports of animals being malnourished or threatened by the cold weather, but virtually all were determined to be unfounded.
