The Flathead County Sheriff's Office

| December 21, 2005 1:00 AM

was called at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday by a resident on Hathaway Lane when a strange man appeared at the door. He wore one shoe and asked for help, but wouldn't say what kind of help he needed. He said he was cold and looking for someone from church. A deputy found that he is a registered sex offender who was in violation of no laws but the law of gravity, given his ability to stand upright with a high level of intoxication. He was given a ride home and was left with the hope that when he sobered up later, he would be able to find his missing shoe and a pickup he also lost.

There were six traffic accidents near Creston and three south of Whitefish on Tuesday; none resulted in serious injuries.

A woman found all her belongings in a ditch on Half Moon Road - a sure sign that a relationship has ended. A man reported that his parents were holding his possessions hostage until he pays them money he owes.

A possible sexual assault was reported at Columbia Heights. A woman said her ex-husband has threatened her.

A woman on Harmony Road called because she wanted her husband removed from the home Monday. When a deputy arrived, he learned that she was angry at her husband - whose face was bleeding - because he kept playing a video game instead of helping her look for her missing keys. She admitted that her husband threw a chair and she punched him. She was arrested for partner assault. She was placed in a patrol car, where she reportedly swore and kicked and said she would kill her husband and herself.

An assault was reported at the Garden Bar.

An excavator was reportedly stolen during the night on Coon Hollow Road, where there is some civil litigation going on. Medication was stolen on Montana 35. Checks were reported stolen on South Meadows Drive.

An attempted break-in was reported at Swan River Valley Real Estate office.

A caller had three points to make about dogs that barked on Lakeside Avenue: They barked all night, the resident was "about fed up" and this has all happened before.
