Young writer's rally planned

| February 3, 2005 1:00 AM

Students with a passion for writing can work with volunteer mentors from Authors of the Flathead at a Young Writer's Rally on Feb. 25.

The seminar is from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Conference Room 3 at The Summit in Kalispell.

Interested students at Linderman and Kalispell Junior High schools have been invited to submit a completed piece of their writing through their English classes.

Students attending the Young Writer's Rally will participate in small groups according to their writing genre. The mentor will help each student develop criteria for good writing in his or her chosen area, then work to improve submissions using that criteria.

A special topic,"The Importance of Journaling," will be presented from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Ina Albert, president of the Authors of the Flathead and author of "Write Your Self Well, Journal Your Self to Health," will make the presentation.

"We are fortunate that the authors of the Flathead are generously giving a full day of their time to share their expertise and make this special day possible," program organizer Sue Hanson said. "It is a great opportunity to learn, make new friends and build support for a shared passion."
