Whitefish Winter Carnival wraps up
The Whitefish Winter Carnival wraps up this weekend with several activities:
Take your children to the Kiddie Carnival from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Central School gymnasium.
The Golden Agers offer lunch and live music from noon to 3 p.m. at the Senior Center, 121 Second St.
Take the Penguin Plunge at 12:30 p.m. at Whitefish City Beach. Shuttle buses will run every 15 minutes from the O'Shaughnessy Center to the beach for participants and spectators. Hot tubs and warming tents will be available for those who jump. Call Michele O'Neil at 758-7780.
Head over to St. Charles Catholic Church at 1 p.m. for their pie social.
The Grand Parade marches at 3 p.m., in downtown Whitefish, followed by Battle of the Bands, Whitefish taverns.
Events culminate tonight on Big Mountain with the Torchlight Parade at 7 p.m.
On Sunday, Whitefish Rotary sponsors a pancake breakfast 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Moose Lodge, 230 West 10th St. Adults, $7; kids, $3.50.
Due to the lack of snow, the skiijoring competition this weekend and the Nordic ski races planned for Sunday at the Whitefish Golf Course have been canceled.
Red Cedar Circle to hold winter ceremonies
The Red Cedar Circle members from the Flathead Valley and Seattle lead sacred ceremonies of the winter 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at Birch Grove Community Center, 594 Birch Grove Road, Kalispell.
Everyone is invited to participate in ancient songs, dances and healing ceremonies. There will also be teachings, storytelling and a traditional feast and potlatch. Admission is by donation.

Dinner, raffle to benefit Teens in Crisis
Teens In Crisis, a nonprofit organization, and the Kalispell Elks Lodge No. 725, invite you to a spaghetti dinner (hot dogs available for the children) at 6:30 p.m. tonight at the Kalispell Elks Club, 1820 U.S. 93 South, in Kalispell.
Dinner tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children 12 years old and under, and are available at the door.
All proceeds donated to Teens in Crisis are used for drug awareness, education, and helping families of troubled children of all ages in crisis.
Raffle tickets for a Mercedes Benz touring sedan will be sold for $25 each, and door prizes will also be awarded during the evening.
