Helen F. Schreck, 89

Helen F. Schreck, 89, passed away Friday, Feb. 4, 2005 at the Immanuel Lutheran Home in Kalispell. She was born Oct. 30, 1915, in Rockford, Wash., to Jacob P. and Helen (Hagen) Engeln.

Helen received her education in Galata and it was there she met Carl Aklestad. The couple married in Conrad in 1934. They farmed in Galata until Carl's death in 1962. Helen moved to Kalispell in 1964 to care for her ailing parents and it was there she met Jerry Schreck. They married Jan. 9, 1967, in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho.

Helen was very active in the Trinity Lutheran Church and with the church circles. She enjoyed the Thimble Club and loved to embroider. She had a beautiful garden and loved her flowers and collecting knick knacks.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband Carl in 1962; her parents; one brother in infancy; and one grandson, Michael John Aklestad in 1967. She is survived by her husband, Jerry of Lakeside; three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and wife Beth of Shelby, Lyle and wife Loretta of Bigfork, and Doug and wife Cheryl of Shelby; a daughter and son-in-law, Elaine Keister and husband Bob of Sumner, Wash.; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Helen will be at 11 am on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastors Dan Wurster and Darold Reiner officiating. Visitation will be at Johnson Mortuary on Tuesday from 3-6 p.m. A service will also be held at the Whitted Chapel in Shelby on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Dan Wurster officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30-1 p.m. Burial will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery in Shelby.

Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Mortuary and Crematory.
