Kalfell powers 'Dogs to win

WHITEFISH - Tessa Kalfell scored a career high 33 points, including 11 in two overtimes, to lead Whitefish (5-4 in league and 9-8 overall) past Ronan 66-65 Thursday in Northwestern A girls basketball play.
Kalfell went the length of the floor and scored on a layup as time expired to force a second overtime.
She hit the go-ahead bucket in the second overtime and hit a clinching free throw.

HELENA - Flathead Valley Home School (FVHS) coasted to an easy 39-20 first-round victory Thursday over Foothills Community Christian School at Carroll College.
FVHS (20-1 overall) was led by Janelle Sheeran's 19 points and nine rebounds.
FVHS, the top seed from the Western Division, faces Valley Christian of Missoula today at 3 p.m. in semifinal action.
The MCAA tournament concludes Saturday.

Libby 78, Browning 72
LIBBY - Blaine Baker and Aaron Sutton combined for 44 points as Libby held off Browning Thursday, 78-72 in Class A nonconference basketball play.
Baker lead all scorers with 24 points. Sutton had 20.
The Loggers enjoyed a big edge at the free throw line, sinking 25 of 39 attempts. Browning made 14 of 22 shots.
Libby, 10-6 overall, travels to Troy tonight.

POLSON - A fast start lifted Polson to a 59-46 Northwestern A boys basketball victory Thursday over Bigfork.
Polson (4-3 in league and 7-8 overall) led 18-6 after eight minutes of play and 38-16 at the half.
Colton Woods tossed in 19 points to lead Polson. Bigfork (3-4 and 7-8) was led by Donny Houtonen's 19 points.
Polson hosts Columbia Falls on Saturday.
