Ruth Harriet Young, 86

Ruth Harriet Young, 86, passed away on Monday, Feb. 7, 2005, at Heritage Place in Kalispell, after a seven-year battle with kidney disease.

She was born Jan. 10, 1919, in Warren, Ind., to the union of Ralph and Ruth (Brown) Kriegbaum.

After graduating from Indiana University in 1941, she began working as a secretary at Delco Remy in Anderson, Ind. It was there that Ruth Harriet met her husband, Kenneth "Ted" Young, and they were married in Warren, Ind., on Aug. 16, 1942.

While a resident of Anderson, Ind., she was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church and volunteered as a Pink Lady at the community hospital. In 1991, she and husband Kenneth moved permanently to Bigfork. Their church family became the members of the First Baptist Church in Bigfork.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Young; two daughters; Katherine Fluegel and husband, Michael, of Zion, Ill., and Barbara Presley and husband, Russell, of Bigfork; five grandchildren, Kimberly Mitchell, Brian Presley and wife, Becca, Eric Fluegel, Andrew Fluegel, and Melissa Winters; six great-grandchildren, Brett Presley, Nurai Tucker, Ryan Tucker, Tyler Mitchell, Zachary Winters, and Kyle Winters; one sister, Audrey Thompson of North Manchester, Ind.; five nieces and nephews; and many very special friends.

A memorial service to celebrate Ruth Harriet Young's life will be held at a later date.

The family suggests that memorial gifts in Ruth Harriet's name be sent to Heritage Place, 171 Heritage Way, Kalispell, MT 59901, for use in the Grace Room; or to Dialysis Clinic Inc., Patients Fund, 135 Commons Way, Kalispell, MT 59901.

Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Mortuary and Crematory.
