Brett A. Lengstorf, 42, of Whitefish was killed in a single-vehicle rollover accident Wednesday at about 10 p.m. on U.S. 93 north of Kalispell.

Lengstorf was the only occupant of the car that flipped and rolled multiple times after going out of control just before the curve between Whitefish and Kalispell.

He was ejected and his vehicle rolled over him. According to a Flathead County Sheriff's Office press release, Lengstorf died at the scene from head and neck trauma.

Deputy Coroner Sgt. Ernie Freebury said in the release that alcohol and excessive speed are believed to have caused the accident.

Lengstorf was not wearing a seat belt.

West Valley Fire Department and Kalispell fire and ambulance responded to the scene. The death raises the state highway fatality toll to 18, the same as on Feb. 10, 2004.
