Delay requested in Dasen trial

| January 7, 2005 1:00 AM

Kalispell businessman Dick Dasen Sr. has requested a delay in his Jan. 24 trial for prostitution-related charges.

Dasen's attorney, George Best, filed a motion to continue the trial for 90 days, saying there are more witnesses he must interview before he can adequately defend Dasen at trial.

A response to the request is expected from prosecutors next week.

District Judge Stewart Stadler recently indicated in court that he expected Best to ask for the trial to be postponed.

Dasen, 62, is charged with multiple counts of prostitution, promotion of prostitution, aggravated promotion of prostitution, sexual intercourse without consent and sexual abuse of children.
