Kalispell police investigated possible fraud at Murdoch's on Friday. A man allegedly wrote two bad checks for merchandise and came back later to try to return the merchandise for cash.

Two juveniles were seen leaving with two cartons of cigarettes apparently shoplifted from Sykes Grocery & Market.

Officers investigated an alleged fraud on Fairway Boulevard in which a contractor stopped payment on two checks. This investigation is expected to result in several more, related fraud cases.

A downed power line prompted a public safety report on Fourth Avenue East.

At 3 a.m. an employee of Suit Your Fancy awoke worrying that a mixup with the night shift resulted in doors not getting locked. Officers found the establishment was locked.

Officers responded to a complaint by the person plowing snow at Home Depot late Thursday. A driver of a older model White Firebird was spinning his vehicle, nearly crashing in the parking lot.

A man was prompted to find another place to rest after officers found him snoozing behind a counter in the lobby of the post office on First Avenue West.

A motorist complained that someone shot out the window of his vehicle parked at Elrod School on Third Avenue West.

A father called officers to report that a man apparently tried to abduct his 6-year-old daughter at Edgerton School Thursday. The girl was waiting behind the gym when the man approached and took her by the hand.

She escaped and ran into the school to wait for her mother to pick her up. The girl was unable to provide a good description.

An attempted assault was reported in the parking lot of Kalispell Center Mall. A 16-year-old girl told officers a man followed her out to her vehicle, grabbed her leg and attempted to pull down her skirt.

He was described as 5'7 or 5'8, in his early 20s and wearing a blue, hooded sweatshirt. The man departed in a white van.

Another assault was reported on Fifth Avenue West. A parent alleged that a caregiver at a day care business pulled an 8-year-girl across the floor, leaving rug burns and other marks.
