McCracken selected as carnival prime minister

Malcolm "Mac" McCracken was named Prime Minister of the Whitefish Winter Carnival at the annual Merry Maker event Saturday.

He moved to Whitefish in 1997 and purchased the Pin & Cue the following year. His and his wife, Sandy, manage the bowling alley and operate a catering business.

McCracken is a member of Whitefish Rotary, head coach of the eighth-grade football team and a longtime coach of Babe Ruth and Senior Babe Ruth baseball. He is on the board of directors of the Whitefish Boosters Club and is an active member of Christ Lutheran Church.

A native of Robinson, Ill., McCracken earned a degree in finance and marketing from the University of Illinois, where he was a three-year starter for the Fighting Illini football squad, and a catcher for the baseball team.

He worked for IBM, then as a commodities trader for the Chicago Board of Trade for 20 years.

The McCrackens have two sons: Scott at the University of Washington and Mike, a student at Whitefish High School. McCracken enjoys golf, fishing and sports of all kinds.
