Dorothy Jane (Donaldson) Anderson, 81

Dorothy Jane (Donaldson) Anderson, 81, of Kalispell, passed away on Jan. 4, 2005, at Buffalo Hill Terrace of natural causes. She was born on Sept. 22, 1923, in Spring Lake, N.J. She then moved to New York City where she was raised.

In 1942, she moved with her family to Kent, Ohio, where she worked for the War Department in communications at the Ravena Arsenal in Ravena, Ohio. It was there that she met her husband-to-be, Herb Anderson. They were married on July 8, 1944.

Dorothy and Herb moved to New Jersey where they raised their family. After retiring, they lived in Vero Beach, Fla., and Monument, Colo., before moving to Bigfork in 1994. They moved to Kalispell in January 2002.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Herb Anderson; her parents, Robert and Ann Donaldson; brother, Alexander Donaldson, who was killed in action during World War II; her brother, Robert Donaldson; her sister, Elizabeth Bjorkman; and a 16-year-old granddaughter, Lauren Anderson.

She is survived by her three sons, Herbert A. Anderson II and his wife Judy of Kalispell, Robert A. Anderson of Hopkinton, Mass., and Eric C. Anderson and his wife Maxine of Seeley Lake; six grandchildren, Vicki Jones of Powell, Ohio, Christie Anderson of Fort Collins, Colo., Katie Jones and husband Brian of Nampa, Idaho, Herbert E. Anderson of Frenchtown, and Amy and Julie Anderson of Hopkinton, Mass.; and two great-granddaughters, Megan and Allison Jones of Ohio.

Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed talking about her mother being raised in Ireland and her father being raised in Scotland. She was an inspiration to all and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Dorothy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Kalispell.

Johnson Mortuary and Crematory is handling the cremation and a small family service took place on Jan. 6.
