Robert William "Bob" Duncan, 87
Robert William "Bob" Duncan, of Kalispell, 87, passed away on Friday, Jan. 7, 2005, at his winter home in Mesa, Ariz.
He was born Aug. 12, 1917, in Hingham, to Louis Elmer and Alice Lee (Crabill) Duncan. Robert received his early education at the Burk School north of Joplin, for eight years and graduated from high school in Chester. He then attended Montana State College in Bozeman where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture economics in 1942.
During the war Robert worked in the Boeing plant in Seattle, as an aircraft inspector. After the war he went to Big Sandy, where he worked as a FFA teacher. In 1948, he began work for the SCS in Cut Bank.
In 1952, Robert met Catherine Dalby and the couple married in 1953. They began farming the old homestead in 1954 and retired in 1984. The couple had built a home in Mesa in 1980 for the winter months, and, upon retiring, built a home in Lakeside as well.
Catherine passed away in 1996, and in 1998, Robert married Edna Colbrey, a life-long friend.
Robert is survived by his wife, Edna Colbrey Duncan of Lakeside and Mesa; one son, Bill Dalby; and a granddaughter, Jenny Dalby.
Funeral services for Robert William "Bob" Duncan will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 14, at the Eidsvold Lutheran Church in Somers, with Pastor Wayne Pris officiating. A graveside committal will be at 10 a.m., prior to the church service, at the C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery.
